On this episode of the Picture Show, as is customary (kinda) during the summer months Dan & Greg start with the box office report for the past week and talk about how Avengers is swallowing all the other summer movies whole, how bad an idea Battleship was and hope for a forthcoming Ants in the Pants movie.
Lurching forward they also fit in some Avengers Blu-Ray and DVD release talk.
Next up, now that all of the networks have had their upfronts, they skip around the upcoming fall television schedule touching on Revolution, Ben & Kate, Elementary and Animal Practice, among others.
That discussion leads into the news over the last few weeks that Community was renewed for a 13 episode 4th season and Dan Harmon was fired as showrunner (the very definition of bittersweet).
Lastly (full show) is the recent news that DC Comics has announced that a prominent male character will be revealed as homosexual in the next few months but they haven’t said who yet.

Dan and Carlton are back on the case starting, just like old times, with what they bought this week. They talk about Avengers vs. X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, The DCnU and Mark Millar.
Next up, predictably taking up the rest of the show, is talk about The Avengers motion picture. Topics range from opinions of the film, Joss Whedons past projects, what they got right and wrong, how much more money Robert Downey Jr. makes than anyone else and what the cast members next projects are. Also, there’s very little sympathy for people that haven’t seen it yet concerning spoilers so be warned.
Then they talk a little about the preview for “The Arrow” coming to “The CW” this fall and a lot about the “Aquaman” pilot from a few years ago.

After nearly 8 months away we are pleased to announce the return to your earholes of Eat Sleep Comics. New and not improved (unless you count Dan’s luxurious hair).
To kick off this new run we are starting with a “very special” issue recorded atDouble Midnight Comics on Saturday, May 5; Free Comic Book Day!
In amongst the chaos of costumed characters and interviews Dan and Carlton do try to get in a regular show.
First up is all kinds of talk about Free Comic Book Day, including what it is andwhat was available.
Next up is Dan asking the question if, with The Avengers, Dark Knight Rises and Amazing Spider-Man, this isn’t the greatest summer in the history of comic book movies.
After that there’s a bit of talk about DCnU and how it’s been going for the last few months and they move on to talking about augmented reality coming to comics spurred by Dan’s new cellular telephone.
As if that wasn’t enough there are also interviews with Ben and Josh of Ben and Josh’s Near Mint Comic Showfame, Brett Parker who is one of the owners of Double Midnight Comics and interview and get interviewed by another podcast, Sci-Fi Saturday Night.

Hey everyone, guess what we did with our Saturday night? We recorded a brand new episode! Jealous?
Anyways, for our first new episode in a few months we thought we’d start off with something easy, to get us back on track. The Avengers opens in less than a week so Dan and Greg discuss the fact that it has opened in many places around the world before opening in the US, which is a bit weird. They also talk about the box office records it is breaking overseas, the positive reaction to the Hulk in the film and a hearty congratulations to Joss Whedon for pulling it all off.
Nextly, they talk about Fox’s newly announced Animation Domination HD programming block and the first show announced, Axe Cop. It’s about a cop… with an axe. Though the story behind the comic it’s based on is very unique.
Last up they talk about the internet uproar over the showing last week at CinemaCon of 10 minutes of footage from Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit”. At issue is that instead of shooting the film at 24 frames per second (as movies are normally shot) it was shot at 48 frames per second making everything move far more smoothly (sounds better, right?). The reaction has not been positive.
